Training scheme launched to protect women on business trips

Travel safety solutions provider Maiden Voyage has released its female travel safety training online for the first time. The five-module eLearning series aims to identify key safety risks for women abroad, offering practical advice to avoid fear and uncertainty in unfamiliar territories where misunderstanding culture and language can lead to unnecessary stress.

All modules have been written by women and experts in the industry, covering topics from pre-planning and ground transportation to cultural awareness and leisure time. With a focus on international audiences, the training hopes to be suitable for both first-time travellers and women who regularly leave the country on business.

Using Maiden Voyageโ€™s previously established, hands-on training to develop this new series, the eLearning scheme has been launched following research revealing one in four women travelling for business suffer a negative incident. With 64% of female workers admitting they wouldnโ€™t travel to certain areas specifically because of their gender, nearly 80% believe they are under-prepared for unexpected incidents when travelling.

Viewable on any device with an internet connection, the 20-minute training videos are expected to be accessible worldwide and feature real-life case studies and interactive elements to encourage engagement. With two years of preparation to make the scheme comprehensive and relevant for as many women as possible, the team is excited to reveal the scheme worldwide.

โ€œIโ€™m really proud of the product we have built and feel confident women from all walks of life will be well equipped to travel as safely as possible,โ€ said Carolyn Pearson, CEO and founder of Maiden Voyage. โ€œWe have successfully delivered classroom-style training for a number of years. However, the launch of our eLearning marks a new chapter in the evolution of Maiden Voyage.โ€
