GDPR can now send you to sleep. Literally

Are you tired of the seemingly endless meetings and emails about GDPR at your place of work? Well, some bright spark has takenย the 57,509-word document to its logical conclusion – an app that sends you to sleep.

That’s right, if you download meditation app Calmย [iTunes link] there’s an option to listen to the GDPR law being read aloud by Peter Jefferson, who’s best known for presenting the BBC’s shipping forecasts on the radio.

Well, not quite the whole thing, but the 107 page introduction, which we think should be enough for most to start nodding off.

Calm says that ‘Once Upon a GDPR’, part of its new Sleep Stories offering, invites listeners to โ€œlie back, wind down, and drift off toโ€ฆ the sound of the new legal regulation.โ€

โ€œSo many people are stressing over complying with GDPR,โ€ says Michael Acton Smith, co-founder of Calm. โ€œIt seems so long, complicated and impenetrable. Will they ever get it right?ย Our new Sleep Story is the antidote to GDPR stress.โ€

โ€œInsomnia is a modern epidemic,โ€ saidย Alex Tew, co-founder of Calm. โ€œThe search for a cure is a modern Holy Grail. GDPR may be our new best hope.โ€
