Glassdoor Employees’ Choice Awards announce 50 best places to work in the UK in 2017

The first Hire Space Awards have been announced

Job listing site Glassdoor has officially announced the winners of the Employees’ Choice Awards, which recognise the best places to work across the UK, France, Germany, the US and Canada. Here in the UK, Expedia tops out the list for the second year in a row.

The rankings are based on company reviews shared by employees over the last year, which include pros and cons of working for the organisation. Participants are also asked to rate their overall satisfaction, their CEO and factors such as career opportunities, compensation and benefits, and culture and values, among others.

Travel booking site Expedia achieved an overall employee rating of 4.3 stars out of a possible five. The company received the same accolade last year after climbing from 25th place in 2015.

Our friends at Hays took fifth place, also with a score of 4.3, ahead of national conglomerate Unilever. Despite rumours that Google is possibly the best place to work, the technology giant came in at number 13 with a rating of 4.1.

International organisation GE placed in the middle of the pack, followed closely by Cisco Systems, Microsoft and Harrods. Meanwhile, the java gods filled out the bottom of the top 50, with Starbucks coming in just ahead of Costa Coffee.
