RCP goes glamping for annual showcase

The Royal College of Physicians (RCP) have welcomed more than 150 to the venue’s annual showcase, offering sunshine and spirits with a festival twist. Taking place in the July sun during the festival season, the almost 500-year-old, Grade I-listed property embraced its heritage with a modern twist.

Welcoming clients to the garden space, guests were invited to sip bohemian gin cocktails from jam jars and eat gourmet wild boar hot dogs with bubble and squeak at the Glastonbury-inspired event. Taking place in the medicinal garden, the team were pleased to find their al fresco focus a success among guests, who were encouraged to try a range of treats, from strawberries and clotted cream to craft beers and ciders.

Overlooking Regent’s Park, the venue’s central location is a major pull for clients, according to the team at RCP, who were glad to show off the unique architecture and varied history of the building. Offering a range of dynamic spaces including two auditoria, exhibition, meeting and dining spaces, with a contrasting mix of old and new styles to suit a variety of events, the team were pleased to find the festival theme didn’t require ponchos and wellies.

“It was lovely to have an al fresco focus and make the most of our wonderful Medicinal Garden in this fine summer weather,” said Natacha Allen, interim head of sales and marketing at RCP. “We were delighted with the great turnout for our annual summer showcase, which has continued to grow in popularity.”

The RCP has been awarded a silver for Best Conference Venue, Customer Service at the Conference Awards 2017, an accolade the team value as they prepare for their 500th anniversary next year. Working at the venue for more than 15 years, Natacha Allen is proud of how the venue has changed and grown while she’s been a part of the team, and is looking forward to the fifth centenary celebrations.

“We are planning a range of activities to mark the occasion, including a special exhibition in our public galleries, conferences, dinner celebrations and public lectures,” explained Allen. “We have also created special dining offers to mark this milestone year, so watch this space to take advantage of these exclusive opportunities.”
