The best British bosses revealed

The British public are more than satisfied with their bosses, it has been revealed. A whitepaper by One4all Rewards showed that more than half of British workers would say they have a good or even great boss, with many managers being applauded for their communication skills that leave staff feeling worthwhile by the end of the working day.

The financial service was revealed to be the home to Britainโ€™s best bosses, with professional service companies like law and accountancy coming second and leisure and travel landing a close third place. Nationally, just 13% would describe their boss as โ€˜poorโ€™, and while consideration and communication skills are highly valued, Brits also like their boss to be able to let their hair down and join in the social side too.

โ€œSelf-awareness is a crucial part of not only being a leader but being able to communicate effectively,โ€ said Claire Dale, Senior Tutor at RADA in Business, which is teaching employees the art of the first impression. โ€œCrucially, it also enables you to better connect with your employees – so it is not surprising that even members of staff recognise how important this is in a business leader.โ€

One4all Rewards helps to transform customer and employee relationships through rewards and incentive schemes, and the team hopes the study can help transform businesses by showing what employees look out for in a boss.

โ€œBritainโ€™s bosses play an essential role in driving our economy forward, but even the most informed and experienced boss would struggle to maintain a successful, growing company without their work being underpinned by happy and hardworking staff who feel motivated and incentivised to perform for the business,โ€ said One4all Rewards Managing Director Declan Byrne.

โ€œEffective and expressive communication is the most crucial distinction workers measure their bosses by.ย  Everyone wants their efforts to be recognised and valued, and to clearly understand what it is their manager expects of them.โ€
