With โ€˜Bring Your Dog to Work Dayโ€™ hitting UK offices June 23, a study has revealed the UKโ€™s preferred dog co-workers. The research, by office furniture provider DBI Furniture Solutions, explored what workers value in their colleagues and how personality can reflect the strength of both an employee and a four-legged friend.

Among the traits and skills workers look for in a colleague, 36% valued honesty above all else, with 27% looking for hard working staff. Other admirable attributes included enthusiasm, perseverance, and loyalty, leading to DBI compiling their top four ideal dog co-workers.

For workers looking for a colleague who is smart, willing to chase a project to the end, yet full of fun, the faithful Labradorโ€™s playful spirit will lift anyone needing motivation, according to DBI, while start-ups in need of a survivor to carry them home would prefer the dependable Husky.

While an office Husky is used to weathering harsh climates, workspaces with quick deadlines or strong and loud personalities may need the help of a jumping Jack Russell to keep the office on its toes. If these characters donโ€™t sound like the appropriate fit for you, maybe a more relaxed and polite pooch could help. Looking to entertain guests in a more civil manner is a sleepy pint-sized Pug, charming clients without being too overbearing.

โ€œItโ€™s hardly surprising that honesty is a much sought-after trait, as it contributes to business transparency from management-level onward,โ€ said Nick Pollitt, managing director of DBI Furniture Solutions, commenting on the results of the survey. โ€œLoyalty goes a long way in improving interpersonal relationships, whilst being around a natural enthusiast is a great morale boost.

โ€œAny business will benefit from perseverance. If you donโ€™t succeed first time, it pays to keep trying. Itโ€™s a learning process, after all!โ€
