PAs are beating the January blues by focussing on work

PA Life readers have revealed how they’re dealing with the January blues as the post-holiday season draws on

We asked our Twitter followers how they’re feeling and what they’re planning to do to combat the blues, receiving a wide range of responses but with one clear winner.

Almost half of respondents, and the overall majority of Twitter followers revealed they’re using the downtime to focus on their work, be that through doubling down and meeting targets, looking for a new job or simply tidying their desks. The news comes after ‘Blue Monday’ this week, which is often described as the most depressing day of the year.

The results also follow a recent Twitter poll where PA Life readers admitted that they would focus on job hunting in 2018 as part of their professional resolutions.

Asking readers how they plan on making their dreams come true, the answer seemed to come in the way of finding a new job or searching for the right person to spend their time with. As 2018 looks set to be the year dreams come true, experts are urging us more and more to break free of routine and try something new.

โ€œWhilst itโ€™s easy to understand how the daily grind and our busy lives take over, if you genuinely have a gift for writing songs or stories, drawing or playing an instrument, it should be encouraged,โ€ Joanna Hollins, Head of Marketing at BIC commented following the news that workers areย abandoning their talentsย for the sake of their company last year. โ€œIt would be great to see more than 28% of the population trying to pursue a career that cultivates their talent.โ€
