Your Finger Or Your Phone

Does the idea of losing your smartphone make you feel uncomfortable, like losing a beloved family pet? Are you the type of person that would rather lose a finger than misplace your mobile? Well, you are not alone.

According to a recent survey by Tappable, a London based mobile app developer, one in ten millennials would sooner cut off a finger than be without their smartphones.

A quarter of those polled would rather lose one of their five senses than their smartphone.

The survey conducted in June 2018 polled more than 500 people between 18 โ€“ 34 years old on what they would give up in order to keep their smartphones.

Just some of the shocking results of the survey revealed that nearly a quarter of those polled would rather lose one of their five senses than their smartphone.

What does this mean to your company?

Itโ€™s no secret that mobile technology is growing, it has never been more important to make sure that your business has optimised its website for mobile users. To develop an app (where possible) to engage your business with an audience. The new generations donโ€™t want to get onto a computer, just to check the information they are looking for. In some cases, such as the latest Apple iPad commercial, the brand has gone to the extreme, showing a child who no longer knows what a computer is. Millennials want instant access to information and any problems, they will just dismiss you.

Your company needs to bridge across communities, collaborate and interact with a global audience like never before.

Up to 38 per cent of those polled would rather stop drinking than give up their phone.

The idea, once upon a time, of having a global company was that of only the biggest brands and dreamers. Today, even the smallest companies starting out have the potential to take over the globe. Where your company is based no longer means anything, if you canโ€™t access the world, then you need to develop.

Other interesting figures that came from the recent survey included up to 38 per cent of those polled would rather stop drinking than give up their phone. The results also show that nearly two times the number of females are less likely to give up their phone for luxuries compared to males.

I donโ€™t know if these results are surprising for most of you reading this, especially if you take a moment to look up and see how many people around you will be on their phones. The vast majority of people reading this will be on a smartphone because that is the way our world works.

Making sure your company is optimised is more important than ever. Donโ€™t get left behind.
