Top 5 tips for the freshest team-building events in 2019

Do you want to organise the best team-building event ever? Are you struggling to choose activities that will make your team mates feel great about themselves? Jason Gilkes, marketing manager from Right Angle Events, shares some top tips.

Once you and your team have attended one of our award-winning team-building events, you’ll feel a great sense of unity with your team and achievement against the goals that you’ve just smashed through.

Read on for our top five tips for the freshest team-building events in 2019:

Get everyone involved
In pure and simple words, get everyone involved. If you don’t you will be operating at somewhere between 20 per cent and 40 per cent of your potential capability at best.

Be transparent about where your company is going and how it is going to get there, by providing periodic progress reports and sharing your successes and failures. Create clarity about what everyone’s roles and responsibilities are, and define the best practices for all the key roles and make sure they are followed.

Make sure that everyone holds themselves accountable to deliver on those roles and responsibilities on a weekly, quarterly and annual basis. This all starts with hiring people who fit your culture, share your values and are capable of doing the jobs for which they were hired.

We recommend: The Killing. At Right Angle Corporate Events, we are very proud that we’ve won Conference and Incentive Travel Magazine’s Award of the year for our ‘The Killing’ team-building event. It’s certainly one of our most immersive experiences and guarantees everyone’s involvement.

In this hands-on team-building experience, you are welcomed to push your boundaries and test yourself while you open your eyes to the challenges and turmoil faced by detectives and crime scene investigators throughout the UK.

Take people out of their comfort zone
You’ve seen inspirational quotes that encourage you to get out and do something unusual, but getting out of your routine just takes so much work and effort sometimes.

There’s actually a lot of science that explains why it’s so hard to break out of your comfort zone, and why it’s good for you when you do it. With a little understanding and a few adjustments, you can break away from your routine and do great things.

We recommend: Taken Experience. Your job is to rescue your kidnapped CEO and get him or her back before it’s too late! Our Taken Experience is based on the ability of any given team to rescue someone who has been kidnapped.

“A role-play is a mock simulation of a real-life scenario. You’d be amazed at how much this increases work performance, as well as educating the person about how their role is intrinsic to other roles within the company.”

Stimulate your team’s minds
It’s the part of our body that we most often use, yet it’s also the one that we love to neglect and take for granted.

As the main processing unit for practically everything that we do, you’d think that we’d all be looking for every way possible to take care of it. Yet the majority of us give little to no attention to it, and instead spend a great deal of our free time engaged in things – such as television – that deteriorates it.

We recommend: Escape the Box. Work through the clues and correctly complete the questions and challenges to unlock the next part of the game. There are 12 stages and you need to be quick. The team who adopts the most effective strategy and manages their time efficiently shall prevail.

Exercise role-playing

A role-play is a mock simulation of a real-life scenario. When this exercise is employed effectively, the purpose is to place the candidate in a situation that resembles the typical conditions of the job and to see how they perform. You’d be amazed at how much this increases work performance, as well as educating the person about how their role is intrinsic to other roles within the company.

We recommend: Bodyguard Experience. Faced with robbery, kidnap or assassination, this exciting team-building experience will teach you all the basics you need to know in order to become a highly skilled bodyguard.

Delivered by an experienced team, you will learn defensive techniques such as weapon disarming, surveillance of suspects and sharp shooting skills in this fun-filled and thrilling event.

Inspire with Innovation
Innovation is often associated with a change in technology or the implementation of a new solution. In short, innovation is merely doing things differently and more effectively than they have been done in the past. Innovation isn’t as complex as it may seem – you just have to be open to change and welcoming to change.

We recommend: Virtual Reality CSI. Step into our virtual reality crime scenes or explore one of our crime scenes in ‘dolls’ house view’. This is a new innovative addition to our infamous ‘The Killing’ and sets our famed title ahead of the game.

We figured this would be the perfect way to combine new technology with the ever increasingly popular effects that come from team-building events. This ensures that everyone has a great time and leaves the comfort zone of their own thoughts while acting out in a fully immersive experience.

All of our team-building experiences are tailored to your specific business requirements and objectives. All of our events have a strong focus on communication and unity. Furthermore, all of our crime team building events are all designed by ex-Scotland Yard detectives and advisers to BBC’s Silent Witness.
